179th Airlift Wing Airmen know the hardest part isn't the jump, it's the preparation for the heavy drop beforehand.
This is what we do. This is #RedFlagAlaska. Whether you were in the cockpit of an A-10 or on the flightline turning wrenches, each of you played an important role in making Red Flag a success. Here's a behind the scenes, in-depth look at the partcipants that made it all happen. **We'd like to extend a special thank you to the Japan Air Self Defense Force and the Republic of Singapore Air Force for providing extensive footage from their flights.** (U.S. Air Force video by the 354th Fighter Wing Public Affairs Team)

The first to take-off of the U.S.S. Hornet on April 18, 1942, is the last to land. One of World War II’s first truly joint operations consisted of 80 U.S. Army Air Forces aviators who were trained by U.S. Navy pilots to master taking off in a fully-loaded B-25 Mitchell bomber from the deck of an aircraft carrier. Led by Lt. Col. Jimmy Doolittle, their efforts resulted in the first aerial attack of the Japanese home islands by U.S. bombers in WWII. Recount with late U.S. Air Force legend Lt. Col. Richard "Dick" Cole, on his first combat mission.
